    This article lists the details of the technical features, improvements and fixes of the Wattsense solution (User console and boxes embedded software).

    Wattsense user console


    The User Console is an intuitive web interface where users can perform configuration and management tasks, visualize collected data, set schedules, connect and command field devices in a few clicks thanks to an easy to navigate interface.

    Boxes embedded software

    The packages are named APPS and BSP.

     

    APPS is the key software component involved in :

    • Protocol management
    • Backend communication
    • Configuration management

     

    BSP is the essential core or layer of software containing hardware-specific drivers and other routines that allow a particular Operating System (OS) to function in a specific hardware environment. It will be customizing our OS to best fit the requirements from the backend as well as the interfaces of our user's applications.

     

    Deployment strategy : 

    All our connected boxes (Tower or Bridge) connect to our Cloud every 30 minutes to check whether there is a new BPS/APPS to download.
    For Bridges that do not have permanent access to the cloud, they will connect to our Cloud and download the new BSP/APPS when the data link is activated (toggle button ON).

    • Partial deployments : we will only release this version at the customer's request, or if it is necessary for your project. This is often the case for the new Lorawan codec, support for new data points type for wired protocols, etc.
    • Mass deployments : we'll send the new software version to all connected products. This only happens when we have a major release to deploy (new feature, major bug fix, etc.).

    BSP 6.5.1 + APPS 6.8.4

    • Synchronize date and time with GSM when NTP is unreachable

    APPS 6.7.3

  • How can I install the last firmware ?

     

    This article explains how to install the last firmware on the Box.

     

    Check to see whether a newer release of software is available on our official release software letter

    If your Wattsense product is not updated, you must be aware of the following situations before updating :

    • Update can take up to 30 minutes to complete
    • Tower or Bridge must be powered ON
    • GSM antenna plug in
    • Verify that it is placed somewhere with good network 

    To request an update, it is necessary to submit a request: Upgrade to the latest firmware

    For the moment, users are not allowed to upgrade by themselves, to ensure protection against malicious tampering.

    The installation process fails under the following conditions:

    • If the product is power off during update
    • If the network is poor

    To determine when your update process is complete, you will be notified by e-mail.
